Winter at our home December 2015

In Bonners Ferry by the talented Sara Schrock

Growing up, I became quite accustomed to change. My father was an officer in the U.S. Navy, and every few years it was time to move again. I was born in Rhode Island, but we only lived there for about six months. From there we moved to California, after that it was Virginia, and from there we spent six years living in Naples, Italy. Being a military man, my father was very disciplined, and he expected his three kids to be disciplined too. So I had a very strict upbringing, and many of you probably had a similar experience. But ultimately the reason why our parents watched over us so closely was because they loved us.

While we were living in Italy, one of the most important elections in modern American history took place. It was 1980, and under Jimmy Carter it seemed like just about everything was going wrong for our country. So when Ronald Reagan won the election by a landslide, I remember that there was a tremendous amount of elation. People suddenly had hope that things would get better, and from that moment forward I have been a conservative.

I like a positive message, and at the core that is what being a conservative is all about. We believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We believe in free markets and free enterprise. And we believe in the values and the principles that made America the greatest nation on the entire planet.

That is why we are so desperate to “make America great again”. Over the years we have lost our way, but if we go back and do the things that made America great in the first place we can restore our Republic.

After moving back from Italy, my family settled in the northern Virginia area. While living in Virginia, I attended the March for Life for the first time. I remember it being very, very cold that day, but that is not what mattered. What mattered was speaking out for the little ones that couldn’t speak out for themselves.

My daughter and I at Sandpoint Beach

To this day, I still have a very difficult time understanding how anyone can possibly justify the murder of millions of children. Some of these “pro-choice” leaders defend abortion so passionately, and I honestly don’t know how they can do it. It is almost as if their consciences have been completely seared.

And I wish the politicians that use the “Pro-Life” label to get our votes were half as passionate about what they say they believe as the “pro-choice” politicians are. Even though they know the crimes against humanity that are being committed at Planned Parenthood clinics every single day, they have no sense of urgency to do anything about it.

A lot of criticism is going to come my way for saying that I want to “go to war with Planned Parenthood” if I win this election, but I don’t care. Planned Parenthood is harvesting body parts from the babies they are killing and they are auctioning those body parts off to the highest bidder. Anyone that is not outraged by that should not be running for public office.

My mother’s visit in September

My mother has been involved in the Pro-Life movement for as long as I can remember, and needless to say she has been a big influence on me. I don’t think that she ever imagined that I would be running for Congress, and I hope that the way that I conduct myself will make her proud.

I am going to contend very strongly for the issues that I believe in, but I also want to run a very clean, positive campaign.

These days, politics has gotten so nasty, and that is not how it is supposed to be. I don’t intend to try to tear down my opponents. Rather, my hope is that we can all make our cases to the voters in a positive way and let them decide. Of course if I am not just going to sit there and let others relentlessly attack me, and so I am hoping that nobody in this race goes there. A mudslinging contest would not benefit anyone in the end.

And I am certainly not going to hide where I stand. These days so many politicians try to craft politically-correct messages that will offend as few people as possible. That is definitely not my approach. If someone believes that big government is good and that more government is the solution to all of our problems, that person is not going to vote for me. And if someone believes that murdering babies is good, that person is not going to vote for me. For much more on what I believe, please check out my recent piece entitled “16 Reasons Why You Should Support Michael Snyder’s Run For Congress”.

Donald Trump showed us that it is possible to be completely politically-incorrect and to take on the entire establishment and still win.

Personally, I think that people are sick and tired of professional politicians, because the professional politicians never fight for us once they get into office. Instead, they just look out for the special interests and the wealthy donors that funded their campaigns.

If you know my work, then you already know that I have been relentlessly fighting for what I believe for the last seven years. And if I go to Washington, I plan to turn over as many tables as possible.

But the only way that is going to happen is if my supporters out there join with me. We are at the very beginning of the campaign right now, and at this stage every single volunteer and every single dollar is absolutely invaluable. If there are just 1000 of you out there that are willing to donate just 10 dollars, we could fund everything that we need to do to get this campaign off the ground this month. You can find the contribution page right here, and if you are interested in volunteering you can sign up here.

In this series, I want to open up more than I normally do. I want to give people a chance to get to know me on more of a personal level, and sometimes that is tough for me to do. But if we are going to change the direction of this country, we have got to be willing to put ourselves out there.

Thank you for being part of the campaign, and I will be chatting with you again soon…

Michael Snyder is one of the most popular conservative authors in America.  He is the author of four books, he has been a frequent guest on major radio and television shows all over the nation, and his websites have been viewed more than 100 million times.  Michael’s articles are also republished on dozens of other major websites, and this includes some of the biggest alternative news websites on the entire planet.

Michael’s father was in the U.S. Navy, and so as a child he moved around quite frequently.  After spending six years in Italy during his formative years, Michael’s family settled in northern Virginia and that is where he attended high school. After high school, Michael attended the University of Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, and later he went on to law school at the University of  Florida where he received two degrees.  Michael worked as an attorney for several years in the heart of Washington D.C., but since late 2009 he has made a living through his writing.

In 2005, Michael married a remarkable woman named Meranda, and today they have a little two-year-old daughter named Atarah.  For almost six years they have been living in Bonners Ferry, Idaho and Michael and Meranda both agree that it is the best place that they have ever lived.  In fact, Michael and Meranda couldn’t really imagine living anywhere else in the country, but there is a job that needs to be done in Washington.

Throughout his life, Michael has been known as a fighter for conservative causes.  As a ten-year-old child he was deeply affected by Ronald Reagan’s election victory in 1980, and he has been a very strong conservative ever since.  He knows what it is like to stand outside on winter mornings protesting abortion clinics in the freezing cold, and he has personally participated in the March for Life in Washington.  Michael is not just another politician that uses the “Pro-Life” label to get votes.  He has been a Pro-Life warrior for decades, and today his articles about abortion are some of the most widely read on the Internet.

Michael is also known as an extremely vigorous advocate for freedom and liberty.  Michael considers Ron Paul and Rand Paul to be two of his role models, and like them Michael wants a federal government that is much more limited in size and scope.  Michael wants to transfer as much power back to the state governments and the people as possible, and he believes that Idaho would be much better off if the federal government would just leave us alone.

Michael is also a man of very deep faith.  He is a Bible-believing Christian that has ministered all over the country, and his personal relationship with Jesus Christ is at the very core of everything that he does and everything that he is. Many politicians are very hesitant to talk about their faith, but Michael is not ashamed to say that there is  no hope for this nation unless we turn back to God.

Whatever happens in this election, Michael and Meranda are looking forward to the future.  They hope to have more children, and they are absolutely convinced that their greatest chapters are still ahead of them.  They know that without God nothing is possible, but with Him all things are possible.

Most of my life, I have been extremely independent. I have always been a “pull myself up by my own bootstraps” kind of guy, but now God has put me in a position where I must depend on others.

This campaign is only going to succeed if all of you stand with me. We don’t have to raise more money than the other guys, but we have to raise enough to at least be on the same playing field.

And since I am not going to get any money from special interests or the big national donors, this is going to be entirely a grassroots effort. So every single dollar is going to make a tremendous difference, and my team is going to make every single dollar stretch as far as humanly possible.

For those that have chosen to help, I could never thank you enough. Many believe that it is impossible to change Washington at this point, but if our founders had adopted that attitude they never would have declared independence from the British.

The rest of the world thought that our founders were crazy to stand up to the mighty British Empire, but because they did the United States of America exists today.

I am asking you to prayerfully consider supporting this campaign. I want to take my message to the halls of Congress in Washington, but I need your help.
